From Snowboarder to Entrepreneur: Journey Through Action Sports and Fitness

Sean Lake, co-founder of Bubs Naturals, spoke to Group Y about his brand and his journey from passionate snowboarder to successful entrepreneur in the fitness and supplement industry.

Sean recounts his early life in Massachusetts, his move to Utah to pursue snowboarding and his challenges in establishing a career in a sport that lacked a clear professional path. He reflects on his time at Burton, where he worked as a team manager for notable athletes like Shaun White, and the entrepreneurial spirit he experienced while launching new products at DC Shoes.

The conversation shifts to Sean's personal fitness journey, influenced by his best friend Glen, a Navy SEAL. After Glen's tragic death in Benghazi, Sean became dedicated to preserving his legacy through charitable work.

“Bub was Glen's call sign in the Navy. So the brand will be a tribute to Glen and his way of life.”

Eventually, he founded Bubs Naturals, a supplement company that donates a portion of profits to causes in Glen's name. His talk highlights themes of self-improvement, community, and the importance of fitness in maintaining an active lifestyle, especially as one ages. Sean emphasizes the significance of training and staying fit to continue enjoying sports like snowboarding.
