Elevating Engagement: Strategies for Meaningful Content Creation

We brought together an esteemed panel at X Games Forum, centered on the power of storytelling in connecting with the audiences. Host Brandon Graham leads a discussion on the changing landscape of content creation. Joined by James Ort from BRP, skateboarder / influencer Brooklinn Khoury, X Games BMX medalist Ryan Williams, and X Games digital director Devin Dismang, the conversation centers on the power of storytelling in connecting with audiences.

Ryan Williams and Brooklinn Khoury shared practical advice on boosting engagement and maintaining authenticity in content creation. Williams highlighted the power of showcasing behind-the-scenes moments, providing a deeper understanding of the dedication behind his tricks. Khoury, as a female skateboarder in a fast-paced social media world, stressed the importance of authenticity in content to capture short attention spans.

“Content's queen and distribution is king." - James Ort

James Ort highlights how brands can connect with action sports audiences by staying authentic. Devin Dismang, with experience in the NBA and NFL, emphasizes the need to capture athletes' emotional journeys beyond their performances. The panel explores the balance between attracting hardcore fans and newcomers alike.

“If you show the people what went into it... they really start to understand like what went into it and they kind of appreciate it a little bit more." - Ryan Williams

The panelists focus on the evolving role of technology and social media in storytelling, stressing the importance of staying true to one's identity. The episode offers valuable insights into the art of storytelling, the challenges of content creation, and the need for authenticity in today's digital world.

It's The End Of The World As We Know It, Do We All Feel Fine?

Maintaining marketing when everyone is telling you to cut back

by Matt Raminick, founder & CEO of Sunnyside

As a veteran of the surf industry and founder of Sunnyside, a marketing agency that works closely with surf and coastal lifestyle brands, I’ve had the unique opportunity to collaborate with some incredible industry leaders.

This year has been tough for many, especially in the retail space, with so many external factors disrupting plans—everything from economic uncertainty to shifts in consumer behavior. But in times like these, I believe brands that double down on their core strengths and stay the course can come out stronger on the other side.

To dive deeper into how endemic brands can navigate these challenges, I sat down with Ian Stewart, CMO of Xcel, as someone who has been through it all but has continued to innovate along the way.

We talked about the current state of the industry, why brands should continue to invest in marketing during tough times, and a few key tactics leaders can use to maintain momentum and build loyalty with their customers.
